Generally, you can remove most programs and applications on your computer by accessing the "Add/Remove" feature on your PC's "Control Panel." However, this approach is not very effective if you are trying to delete Office 2007 add-ins. This is because the "Add/Remove" feature in the "Control Panel" does not display all the add-ins installed on your computer. Therefore, the Registry Editor comes in handy when you need to access and remove applications and programs that may be hiding on your system.
Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions
1
Click on the Windows "Start" menu and then choose the "Run" utility from the list of programs. Depending on your specific Windows operating system, you can find "Run" by clicking on the "Accessories" folder on your Windows "Start" menu. If your Windows Start menu has a search field, you may also type "Run" in the field and then click on the application when it appears on your "Start" menu.
2
Type "regedit" in the "Open" field and then click "OK." Select "Yes" when the "Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer?" dialog box prompts you. The Registry Editor opens.
3
Go to the following branch:
"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins."
You can access this branch by clicking on each folder before the "\" sign. Upon accessing the branch, you will see a list of sub-folders under the "Addins" folder; these are the Outlook 2007 add-ins installed on your computer.
4
Right click on each sub-folder and then select "Delete" to remove the add-in from your PC. You can also remove each add-in by left clicking on the sub-folder and then hitting the "Delete" key on your keyboard.
5
Restart Outlook 2007.
